China is world’s leading country in economic growth which affects transport industry directly. The biggest airlines in China continue to order hundreds of new aircraft. This situation cannot meet the pilot’s demand. Therefore forcing China to seek pilots abroad, captains in particular. This tendency is expected to be this way for the next 10 years at least. Airlines set now limits as to how many captains to hire this year or next one. The salary has tripled for the past 12 years.

Desperate shortage of captains and as a result more and more money offered. China can afford this. But other side is eastern mentality which is quite different from western one. Not all captains are easy to adapt to this and therefore high salary is in place for extra motivation..

Airlines will cover two return economy class tickets, hotel, transportation within China, simulator and medical costs. Basically everything. In case of failure on one of the stages you have no financial obligations.

The airlines will pay all taxes within China and will give you the official report on this. However it depends on your country regulations whether or not you have to pay extra in your country. China has an agreement about avoiding double taxation with a lot of countries (meaning you have to pay taxes only in one country on your choice). The salary can be paid to bank account in any country in world at no cost to you

Because if you pass Chinese ATPL test for licence verification with one airlines and in order to be able to use it for other airlines you need to get a release letter from the first airlines. And if there is no obvious reason to release you then the airlines will not do it.

One year max is 1000 hours, one month max is 100 hours. But there are no red eye flights and 100 hours is reachable only for those who do full time contract

During the screening you pass ATPL exam (on the computer) and simulator check with government inspector. This will give the ATPL issued in China. Your home country license validation is not applicable. You will also have to do the initial medical examination in China.

Ideally from the moment you come to China for screening it takes about 4 months until you get your first pay check. And of course during this process there is no need to leave your current airlines. It will be necessary only after you are offered to sign the contract.

Major steps are: medical examination, ATPL exam, company sim check (could be done during airlines roadshow in your country), government inspector sim check.

Interview in the airlines itself is just a formality where you meet upper management talk about general things….more of a greeting meeting. No one has ever failed this in the history of China:)
